Week 10 – Using Google for Business

This week, I decided to actually check out Google for Business and start setting things up for my fiancée’s new yoga studio. I’ve seen businesses pop up on Google Maps before, but I never realized how much you can do for free. The main thing I learned is that the Google Business Profile basically becomes your online storefront. You can add your address, phone number, business hours, photos, and even posts about what’s new. Once it’s verified, “Jada’s Yoga Studio” will appear on Google Maps, making it easier for people in Vista to find her classes.

What’s cool is how interactive it is. You can reply to reviews, message customers, and post updates like “New Moon Flow Class this Friday” or share quick wellness tips. It essentially turns Google into another social platform, but one that’s more about showing up when people are actively looking for what you offer. That’s a big deal for small local businesses.

Another thing I liked is how it tracks your analytics. It tells you how people found your business, what they searched, how many clicked for directions, or made a call. That’s valuable info because it helps you understand what’s working. For example, if people are searching “yoga near me” and clicking on her studio, that means the visibility is paying off.

Google Workspace tools seem super helpful for running things behind the scenes. The shared Calendar, Drive, and Gmail setup makes it easy to stay organized and look professional. She could even use a custom email like info@jadasyogastudio.com instead of a basic Gmail, which makes a difference when it comes to branding.

Overall, I think Google for Business is a must-have for anyone starting out. It’s free, easy to use, and makes a small business look more official right away. For Jada’s yoga studio, it’s going to help her get found online, connect with new students, and keep her organized as she starts building her client base.
