Week 10 – Google Business Profiles

For this week, I looked up different yoga studios on Google to see how their business pages looked and what kind of details they included. It’s crazy how much you can tell about a business just from the profile. Most of them had updated hours, tons of reviews, photos, and even links to book classes. It really shows how much a Google Business Profile can do for visibility. 1. Yoga Box – La Jolla, CA Yoga Box had a clean, detailed page with a 4.9-star rating and over 60 reviews. Their photos looked professional, showing the studio space and class setup. The profile had their phone number, website, and business hours listed, plus a quick description of the types of yoga they offer, like Sculpt, Vinyasa, Flow, and Restorative. I could tell people actively leave feedback and check in since the reviews are recent and full of positive energy. 2. Yoga Branch Vista Village – Vista, CA This one stood out because it’s actually close to where we live. Yoga Branch has been ar...

Week 10 – Using Google for Business

This week, I decided to actually check out Google for Business and start setting things up for my fiancée’s new yoga studio. I’ve seen businesses pop up on Google Maps before, but I never realized how much you can do for free. The main thing I learned is that the Google Business Profile basically becomes your online storefront. You can add your address, phone number, business hours, photos, and even posts about what’s new. Once it’s verified, “Jada’s Yoga Studio” will appear on Google Maps, making it easier for people in Vista to find her classes.      What’s cool is how interactive it is. You can reply to reviews, message customers, and post updates like “New Moon Flow Class this Friday” or share quick wellness tips. It essentially turns Google into another social platform, but one that’s more about showing up when people are actively looking for what you offer. That’s a big deal for small local businesses.      Another thing I liked is...

Notebook LM

I decided to mess around with Notebook LM. I wanted to see if it could actually help me brainstorm yoga content for Jada’s brand, so I uploaded a short outline from one of her beginner classes and a few notes I’d written about “yoga for stress relief.” Then I told it: “Create a chill 300-word blog post about how mindfulness helps before and after class. Keep it positive.”      Within seconds, Notebook LM wrote a mini post that talked about breathing, gratitude, and being present before stepping on the mat. It even ended with this line: “Take a deep breath—you’re exactly where you need to be.” I’m not gonna lie, that one got me!      The best part? It gave me structure and ideas I hadn’t even thought of yet. It basically handed me a solid starting point to tweak and personalize. I still had to rewrite parts to make it sound more like us, but it saved time and sparked new ideas for both the blog and the podcast.

How a Blog and Podcast Can Grow Jada’s Yoga Business

A blog isn’t just a spot to post updates—it’s the heartbeat of a brand. It’s where you get to talk like you, tell stories that feel real, and give people a peek at the vibe before they even roll out a mat. For Jada’s yoga business, the blog will be our place to share what her classes actually feel like—the energy, the music, the calm—so future students can already picture themselves there.      When I started checking out what other yoga instructors were doing, I saw a pattern: the best blogs teach something small but meaningful. Yoga with Adriene drops simple mindset tips that make you feel seen, and CorePower Yoga mixes motivation with wellness reminders about recovery, balance, and being kind to yourself. That’s when it hit me—a yoga blog doesn’t have to be formal or perfect. It just has to sound like real people talking about real life.      From the business side, a blog is like a quiet salesperson working 24/7. Each post lives onli...

Why YouTube and LinkedIn Are Perfect Platforms for a New Yoga Business

As unstable as it sounds, I’ve decided to shift my business idea once again. My fiancée will soon be getting her yoga instructor certification, and she plans to start her own yoga business — a real one that she’ll be running herself very soon. Since I’ve been taking this class and learning all these useful strategies for managing social media, I’ve decided to help her by becoming her social media manager. She recently asked me nicely to take on the role, and I gladly accepted. Now I’m excited to shift my business focus into something that can help her grow her brand and start earning income. Hopefully, once she starts making extra cash, she’ll buy me something nice — just kidding! ....I know she will.       After looking into different platforms, YouTube makes the most sense for quick how-tos. I know people (me) utilize YouTube for quick instruction/ informative videos, or even short mindfulness breaks can be good with YouTube Shorts. She c...
